Video rentals on the Internet

I just got done reading an article on the net about retail stores and their race to keep in the video rental game. It seems that they are worried about the declining sales and rentals of videos in their stores. So they are turning to the Internet.

I have looked at Netflix and a few of the online services, and I have to say none of them appeal to me. You either have to wait on the mail or you have to view your downloaded move as much as you can in a twenty four hour period. Now maybe my children wouldn't mind watching a movie several times in one day but, I don't think that would appeal to me.

Why can't they allow you to view the movie on your computer, or connected to your entertainment system over live stream. They could make the password to the movie good for let’s say five days. Just like going to the store to rent. Or allow you to download and burn the movie with a five day password. Surely they have the tech savvy to do this.

Waiting to get a movie in the mail isn't so bad, but if you are like me you want it when it is released. Those movies you rent through the mail usually are a step behind the stores and there is that on going fee each month.

Give me the movie for five days and I will be happy to pay a reasonable price. Twenty four hours is just too short, and snail mail sucks.
